Our History
ALKEV Private Schools, established by the esteemed alumni of Istanbul German High School, with a deep-rooted tradition, founded in 1868, started in 2000-2001 academic year with kindergarten, primary school 1st and 2nd grade students.
With the strong foresight of the Foundation, the 30-acre land, with the lake and bay view that the school buildings are built on, was bought and the campus, consisting of educational buildings, play grounds, open door sports facilities were constructed based on the results of the soil survey and as per German construction norms.
The inauguration ceremony hosted the esteemed president of the foundation, the members, parents and the students.
Following the inauguration of the ALKEV Private Schools, the hearts filled with the love of Atatürk, affirmed their commitment to their school by ALKEV Anthem, composed by Mrs. Melek Helvacı, the Music Teacher.
ALKEV Private Schools started out with 51 students, and reached 1530 students in 2023-2024 Academic year.
Our school, which is always developing and changing, yet growing with progressive targets, had a gym in 2004 and additional service building (annex) added in 2011. In 2011 the new Conference Hall added by the valuable parents and honorary board members, Mr. Mesut and Mrs. Mertem Işıl, enabling us to present official ceremonies, holidays and activities with a different approach.
The same year the school hosted the inauguration of Beyhan Eczacıbaşı Library, donated by Mr. Bülent Eczacıbaşı Mr. Faruk Eczacıbaşı, both of whom are alumni of the German High School, with 10,000 publications.
In 2012-2013 academic year, the construction of the new primary school building started, to meet the needs of new classrooms and to enhance academic activities. In 2013-2014 academic year, ALKEV Private Anatolian High School was established and in 2017-2018 academic year ALKEV Private Science High School started education.
With the opening of the high school, high-end modern laboratories were built to meet the contemporary needs of science and technology. At the beginning there was only one science and computer lab and today the school has progressed far in the road to science, thanks to the iMac lab, gift of the Foundation and physics, chemistry, biology labs, gift of the Demiren family, in the name of the late Selim Demiren.
The continuation of the education and culture that enabled the success of the alumni of the German High School, adopting of the universal values by future generations will be the criteria of utmost importance in the future, for ALKEV Private Schools, who teaches in the light of science, technology and art.
